# Framer vs Webflow for a SaaS marketing site

Guide · 6 min read · By [Utkarsh Dhairya Panwar](https://www.utkarshdesign.com/about) · Updated 8 Oct 2026

**For a SaaS site run by a small team that ships often, I'd pick Framer: it's faster to build in, and marketers can edit it without a developer. Pick Webflow for deep CMS relationships, heavy content operations, native ecommerce, or an in-house web team that wants control over the markup.**

## Where I'm coming from

I've been an official Framer Expert since June 2025. Webflow is in my toolkit, but the SaaS sites I can show you, CodeAnt's and Zania's among them, are all Framer. So I'm not neutral, and I've tried to be specific about where Webflow wins.

The choice usually comes down to who will maintain the site after launch and how often it will change. A single feature rarely settles it.

## Framer vs Webflow, side by side

| | Framer | Webflow |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Design to build | Canvas behaves like Figma; designers build directly with little translation | Box model and classes; closer to writing CSS, more control, slower to start |
| Who maintains it | Designers and marketers; content edited on the page | Developers or trained Webflow designers for layout; the Editor for content |
| CMS | Good for blogs, changelogs, customer stories and simple filtering | Deeper: reference and multi-reference fields, conditional visibility, complex collections |
| Animation | Strong by default; scroll and hover effects without code | Powerful through Interactions, with more setup |
| Custom code | Code components and overrides | Custom code embeds, code components, and code export |
| Ecommerce | Not a native strength | Built in |
| SEO basics | Meta tags, sitemap, redirects, clean URLs, fast hosting | The same basics, with finer control on large sites |
| Best fit | Seed to Series B SaaS, a few to a few dozen pages, frequent launches | Content-heavy sites, complex CMS, an in-house web team |

## What each costs, checked October 2026

Both price per site with yearly billing, but they split features differently. Here is how the plans a SaaS site would use line up on the two pricing pages.

| | Framer | Webflow |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free plan | Free: Framer subdomain, 1 GB bandwidth | Starter: webflow.io domain, 2 static pages, limited CMS |
| Small site, own domain | Basic, $10 a month: 30 pages, 2 CMS collections | Basic, $15 a month: 300 static pages, no CMS |
| Typical SaaS site with a blog | Pro, $30 a month: 150 pages, 10 collections, redirects, staging | Premium, $25 a month: Webflow CMS, site search, code components |
| Extra people | $20 a month per editor, $10 per content-only editor | Workspace seats, priced separately from site plans |
| Languages | $20 per locale, up to 20, on Basic and Pro | Localization listed under the Team platform plan, $2,500 a month on an annual contract |

The site plan is the small number either way. What separates them for most teams is who has to be paid to change a layout. If that person is a designer already on the team, Framer is cheaper to run. If you employ web developers anyway, Webflow's extra control is worth its learning curve. Localisation is the one line where the gap is large, so price it early if you need more than one language. My Framer website cost guide has the full Framer table and a worked monthly bill.

## Why I default to Framer for SaaS sites

A SaaS site changes every time the product does. CodeAnt's site had to keep up as the platform grew across AI code review, security scanning, code quality and developer metrics. In Framer I can design a new landing page and publish it the same week, with no hand-off to a developer in between.

Fidelity matters to me too. When the designer builds the site, spacing, type and motion stay as designed, and a copy change doesn't need a ticket.

## When Webflow is the better choice

- Your content team publishes a lot and needs structured content: related posts by tag, multi-reference fields, different fields per collection.
- You have in-house web developers who want class-based styling and predictable markup.
- You need native ecommerce, or code export for compliance or self-hosting.
- You're already on Webflow, the site works, and the problem is messaging. Moving tools won't fix copy.
- You're building many programmatic pages with complex relationships between collections.

In those cases I'd tell you to stay on Webflow or move to it, even though Framer is where I'm faster. If you're weighing Framer against a simpler builder, Wix or Squarespace make sense mainly when you need bookings or a shop more than a SaaS marketing site. My Framer vs WordPress page covers those.

## SEO and switching

Both tools handle the technical SEO basics, so the builder rarely decides rankings. Page structure does. At xPay, restructuring 10+ Framer pages doubled indexed pages without changing tools; the details are in my Framer SEO guide.

If you decide to switch, the work is the URL inventory, CMS export, templates and 301 redirects before DNS moves. That process lives in my website migration SEO guide, and the Webflow to Framer service page covers what I take on.

## Questions people ask

### Is Webflow better than Framer for large sites?

Often, when the size comes from structured content with complex relationships, or when an in-house dev team maintains it. Page count alone isn't the deciding factor.

### Which is cheaper, Framer or Webflow?

For a small marketing site the plans are close: Framer Pro is $30 a month and Webflow Premium $25 a month on yearly billing. The bigger costs are seats, languages, and who you pay to make layout changes.

### Can marketers edit a Framer site without a designer?

Yes. Text, images and CMS items can be edited directly on the page. Layout changes are easier for someone comfortable in design tools.

### Should I move from Webflow to Framer?

Only if maintenance is the problem, for example when every small change needs a developer. If the problem is messaging or conversion, fix it on the platform you have.
