# SaaS product and dashboard designer

**I design B2B SaaS products: onboarding, the core workflow screens, and the dashboards managers use to decide what to fix. At CodeAnt AI my manager dashboards cut org-level triage time by 35%, and one system for 18+ UI patterns cut design turnaround by 30%. Product design starts from $4,500/month.**

## What a SaaS product designer owns

The happy-path screen is maybe a fifth of the work. The rest is states: empty, loading, partial data, a failed sync, no permission, 3 rows and 3,000 rows. Most SaaS products feel unfinished because nobody designed those states and whoever was building that week made them up.

When I design a feature I design its states at the same time, and I write a rule for each one so engineers don't have to guess. I picked up the habit at FamPay, redesigning what happens when a payment times out or a bank declines it.

## SaaS dashboard design that starts from a decision

A dashboard is worth building if it helps someone decide something faster. At CodeAnt, code analysis results and secret leaks lived in separate places, so an engineering manager had to assemble the picture by hand before deciding what to fix first.

I designed manager dashboards that put both in one view, organised around the question the manager arrives with: what needs attention across the org right now. Org-level issue triage time fell by 35%.

I also pick the data density for each audience instead of once for everyone. I learned that on Sportskeeda's live NFL and IPL pages, where restructured tables had to work for casual readers and power fans at once.

## A system, so the product stops drifting

Once three designers or ten engineers have touched a SaaS product, the same table exists in six versions. At CodeAnt I standardised 18+ UI patterns into one system. Design turnaround dropped by 30%, and reviews stopped turning into debates about which filter bar was the right one.

I don't start a system from a blank component list. I start from the screens already shipped and pull out what repeats.

## What you get

- A flow map of the feature or area, with the decision points marked.
- Figma screens for every state, built with your components, plus new ones where something is missing.
- A clickable prototype you can put in front of users before anything is built.
- Written rules for edge cases, attached to the frames engineers will open.
- A design review of the build before release, on top of the file handover.

## How a SaaS UI/UX project runs

1. **Week 1: understand the work**: A product walkthrough with whoever owns it, a look at the metrics and support tickets, and a short written scope.
2. **Weeks 2 to 3: flows, then screens**: Flows get agreed in writing first, then I design high-fidelity screens with all their states. Reviews happen twice a week.
3. **Week 4: test and hand over**: A usability round on the prototype, fixes, then a build review with the engineers.

That's a typical project covering one area of the product. A whole product, or one that keeps changing, is usually better as ongoing fractional work. Product design starts from $4,500/month, and the final quote depends on scope.

## Not the right fit

If your product is pre-launch and you mainly need a landing page to test demand, start with a Framer website instead. If you want a large research programme with recruited participants across several markets, a research agency will run it better than a solo designer. And I design the product; I don't write your production frontend or backend.

## Questions people ask

### How much does SaaS product design cost?

My product design work starts from $4,500/month. The final quote depends on how much of the product is in scope, and the pricing page lists the other starting prices.

### Can you work inside an existing design system?

Yes. I design with your components first and only propose new ones where a pattern is missing or duplicated.

### Do you design dashboards against real data?

I design against realistic volumes, including the empty account and the very large one. A dashboard that only works with five tidy rows breaks on day one.

### Do you only work with B2B SaaS?

Most of my recent product work is B2B SaaS at CodeAnt AI. Before that I designed consumer fintech flows at FamPay and high-traffic sports pages at Sportskeeda.
