# Webflow to Framer migration without losing rankings

Service · Updated 8 Oct 2026

**A Webflow to Framer migration is mostly an SEO and content project. There's no one-click importer: I rebuild pages in Framer, bring CMS collections across by CSV and check them by hand, and give every changed URL a 301 before the domain switches. Redesign comes after.**

## Should you move at all

Move when the builder is the problem: every small edit needs the one person who knows Webflow's class system, campaign pages wait a week for a developer, and marketing has stopped asking. In Framer, designers and marketers edit pages directly on the canvas.

Don't move when the problem is the message. A site that doesn't convert on Webflow won't convert on Framer either. Stay on Webflow if you depend on deep CMS relationships across many collections, native ecommerce, or an in-house web team that wants control over the markup; I'll tell you so on the first call. My Framer vs Webflow guide covers the decision in detail.

## What carries over and what doesn't

| Part of the site | How it moves | What I watch for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Static pages | Rebuilt in Framer from components | Same paths, headings and body copy unless you decide otherwise |
| CMS collections | Exported from Webflow as CSV, imported into Framer collections | Rich text formatting, image fields and slugs, checked item by item on a sample |
| Reference and multi-reference fields | Rebuilt by hand | Author pages, categories and related posts that link collections together |
| Forms | Rebuilt and reconnected | Where submissions go now: HubSpot, a CRM, email, a webhook |
| Interactions and custom code | Recreated, simplified where possible | Scripts for analytics, consent, chat and schema markup |
| SEO settings | Re-entered per page and per CMS template | Titles, descriptions, canonicals, Open Graph images, structured data |

Reference fields are the hard part of leaving Webflow. Framer's CMS is simpler, so a blog where every post links to an author, three categories and related posts needs its content model redesigned before anything is imported. I map that before quoting, because it decides whether the move takes two weeks or six.

## How the move runs

1. **URL map and content model**: Every live URL from a crawl, the sitemap and Search Console, each given an outcome: keep, redirect, merge or remove. Alongside it, how each Webflow collection and reference field will work in Framer.
2. **Templates, then content**: I build navigation, footer and CMS templates first, then rebuild pages and import collections, and compare a sample of items side by side with the old site for broken formatting and missing images.
3. **Redirects before DNS**: On the Pro plan, Framer supports exact, wildcard and pattern redirects, imported in bulk. They go in before the domain switches, then I test every old URL against the map.
4. **Two weeks of watching**: I check Search Console for crawl errors and pages leaving the index, and fix anything odd quickly.

The full process, with the four URL sources, redirect rules and six weeks of checks, is in my website migration SEO guide. This page covers what's specific to leaving Webflow.

## Migrate first, redesign second

Change builder, URLs and design at once and any traffic drop becomes impossible to diagnose. So I move the site close to like-for-like, let it settle, then redesign page by page. If you need the redesign now, both fit in one project, but the URL map and redirects still come first.

Once the old URLs are safe, a migration is a good moment to fix structure. At xPay, restructuring 10+ Framer pages around one topic each doubled indexed pages; the Framer SEO guide explains how.

## What you get, and what I can show

- The URL map and content model as a spreadsheet you keep.
- The rebuilt site in Framer, with components and CMS collections your team can edit.
- A redirect list, imported into Framer and tested.
- Forms, analytics and scripts reconnected and checked.
- Two weeks of Search Console checks after launch, with a short note of what was found and fixed.
- A handover session on editing pages and CMS items.

A marketing site with a blog, moved like-for-like, usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. With a redesign on top, plan on 4 to 7. Large CMS libraries with many references sit at the long end.

I don't have a published Webflow to Framer case study yet. What I can show is the Framer side (I'm an official Framer Expert, and designed and built codeant.ai and zania.ai) and the migration process above, the same one I'd use on any platform move.

## Not a fit if

You need Webflow ecommerce, logged-in member areas or complex localisation, which Framer handles differently or not at all. Or you want the move done in a weekend with no redirect work. Someone will take that job, and your rankings will pay for it later.

To start, email work@utkarshdesign.com with your Webflow URL, roughly how many CMS items you have, and whether you want a redesign as part of the move. Starting prices for Framer work are on my pricing page.

## Questions people ask

### Will we lose SEO rankings moving from Webflow to Framer?

Not if URLs that earn traffic keep their paths, every changed URL has a 301 before the domain switch, and metadata is carried over. Small swings in the first weeks are normal; lasting drops usually mean a missed redirect.

### Is there an automatic Webflow to Framer importer?

No. Pages are rebuilt in Framer and CMS content comes across by CSV, with rich text, images and reference fields checked by hand.

### Do we need Framer Pro for a migration?

Yes, in practice. Redirects are a Pro feature on Framer's current plans, and a migration without redirects breaks every old URL that changes.
